Whether arriving from the north or south of the province, the only national road that crosses the department entirely is National Route 75.
Take National Route 75 heading northwest (approx. 30 minutes). Winding road.
To reach the Huaco District, continue from Villa Sanagasta on National Route 75 heading north (approx. 20 minutes). Mountainous road with slopes and inclines.
Take National Route 9 heading northwest until reaching Córdoba City, then follow the directions detailed from that city.
Take National Route 19 heading west until reaching Córdoba City, then follow the directions detailed from that city.
Continue on National Route 9 (northbound) and then National Route 60 (northwest). Upon reaching the town of San Martín (Catamarca), take Provincial Route 5 (westbound) until reaching the City of La Rioja, and then follow the directions detailed from that city.
Alternatively, continue on National Route 20 (westbound) and connect with National Route 38 (northwest) until reaching the City of La Rioja, and continue from there.
Take National Route 9 (south/southwest) to San Miguel de Tucumán, then follow the directions detailed from that city.
Alternatively, it is possible to arrive via a combination of National Routes in the following order: 68, 40, 60, and 75. This route crosses northern Catamarca.
Take National Route 38 (southwestbound) until reaching the City of La Rioja, and continue from there.
Take National Routes 151, 143, and 146 (northbound) to reach the City of San Luis, then follow the directions detailed from that city.
Take National Routes 146, 20, 79, and 38 (northbound) until reaching the City of La Rioja, and continue from there.
Take National Route 40 (northbound) until reaching the City of San Juan, then follow the directions detailed from that city.
Take National Routes 20 and 141 (eastbound), then continue on National Routes 79 and 38 (northbound) to reach the City of La Rioja, and continue from there.
Take National Route 3 (northbound), connect with Chilean Route 257 (includes a ferry crossing), and re-enter National Route 3 until reaching the City of Río Gallegos (Santa Cruz), then follow the directions detailed from that city.
Take National Route 3 (northbound), then connect with National Routes 251, 22, 154, and 35 (northbound) until reaching the City of Santa Rosa (La Pampa), and continue from there.
Take National Route 35 (northbound), then join National Route 7 until reaching the City of San Luis, and follow the directions from there.
Take National Route 11 (southbound), connect to National Route 89, and then National Route 34 (westbound) until reaching the City of Santiago del Estero, and continue from there.
Take National Routes 64 and 38 (southwestbound) to reach the City of La Rioja, and continue from there.
Take National Routes 14 and 12 (westbound) until reaching the City of Resistencia (Chaco), and then follow the directions from that city.
To use this transportation service, you must go to the La Rioja City van terminal located at Avenida Artigas 700. Each transportation service offers different departure times to Villa Sanagasta from platforms 1, 2, and 3 of the terminal; it is not necessary to purchase tickets in advance. For schedules, prices, and payment methods, contact the service providers.
