It is very common for the strong winds to carry the scents of the local herbs.

La Pampa de la Viuda, one of Sanagasta’s most emblematic natural settings, combines history, legend, and adventure. This mountain plateau has witnessed the passage of ancient Indigenous communities and, over time, has become a gathering point for hikers, cyclists, and lovers of the outdoors.
Its open panoramas invite you to contemplate the vastness of the valley and to feel the purity of the Andean environment, where sightings of guanacos, condors, and other native species are not uncommon. The mystique of its name, tied to local legends, adds to the sensory experience of being in a space where silence and wind seem to have their own voice.
Today, the Pampa is also the stage for endurance and extreme sports, such as competitive cycling races and trail running events, which take advantage of its demanding geography and striking contrasts. Those who reach this place find not only nature and tranquility but also a vibrant terrain for adventure, effort, and a true connection with an authentic Sanagasta.
We promote sustainable tourism and healthy activities through the unique geography of the area.

It is said among the people of Sanagasta that this pampa was once one of the settlements of the Indigenous tribes that inhabited the area. The security of the heights allowed them a peaceful life in harmony with nature, and gave them a vantage point from which they could observe the Huaco Valley, where they tended their livestock. Today, we are slowly returning to these places through various works that will allow a renewed human presence in the future.
The most common way to reach the site is to take National Route 73 at its junction with National Route 75 and carefully ascend the winding slope. Additionally, some tour operators offer shuttle services to the site as part of their activity packages.
