Inspired by countless tales and mysteries that color local culture, this park was inaugurated in 2016 as a themed attraction. It features an accessible route with parking, an interpretation center, marked trails, scenic viewpoints, and artisan areas. The journey begins by crossing a salt circle—meant to protect visitors from negative energies.

It offers a unique blend of geology, folklore, theatrical setting, and necrotourism. The aim is to preserve and enhance this part of local folklore through symbolic recreations. As part of the "Sanagasta Geological Park", it also offers an opportunity to share stories about the local flora and fauna, always from a mystical perspective.
At the moment, the destination is not equipped for extended wheelchair use beyond reception.
Already in colonial times, it was said that among the folds of the northwestern Argentine sierras, an ancestral murmur spoke of the Salamanca: a cave of shadows, forbidden music, and profane pacts. Sanagasta was fortunate (or perhaps not) to possess one of these places of mystery and legend, where the esoteric beats beneath the rock.
The Salamanca of Sanagasta holds its own magnetism: rock, wind, and echo envelop the visitor in a living tale, unique, blending fear and fascination. Those who draw near claim that on full moon nights, the place throbs with greater force and its own energy. Silence grows dense, skin bristles, and every shadow seems to have a voice. An experience not explained, but felt.
On the walls of its ravines, curious marks on the stone can still be seen. Stories flourish of strange lights or of the peculiar behavior of animals at dusk. These tales, passed down from generation to generation, form part of the cultural charm and legendary allure of the place.

The guided tour explores the origins of our version of La Salamanca, but it does not focus solely on it. Along the way, you will also hear stories, legends, events, and accounts that make up the folklore of the place. In addition, the route includes stations where sculptures recreate the tales and the popular knowledge of Sanagasta that has endured since before Europeans arrived in the Americas.
This tour is also often offered in "night mode," where the terrain is explored in the middle of the night. This option only takes place on certain days of the year, so the best way to find out about upcoming dates is to follow the park's social media channels. Be sure to reserve your spot in the group in advance.
Yes, you may bring your own food or beverages, provided they are not cumbersome, as we do not have facilities for their consumption. We kindly ask that you dispose of all waste in the proper containers and avoid leaving food or drink remnants on the ground..
We recommend wearing comfortable, light-colored clothing, especially on sunny days. Don’t forget to bring a cap, hat, or umbrella, along with a bottle of water. Footwear should be comfortable and have good ground traction.
We do not recommend flat-soled sneakers or summer shoes, as they do not provide the necessary safety for the mountainous terrain of the region and the park.
We strongly advise against participating in the tour if you have respiratory problems, heart conditions, or mobility impairments. Excursions are often long and over rugged terrain, requiring physical effort that ranges from moderate to intense depending on each individual.
To make your trip even more memorable, here are some useful recommendations:
If you head into the mountains or gorges, wear footwear with good traction.
Do not stray too far from the group and always follow the guide’s instructions.
Avoid exposure to the zonda wind, especially during summer.
Carrying insect repellent is a good idea in spring and summer.
